READY Web API

Overview

The READY Web Application Programming Interface (API) provides web-accessible endpoints for obtaining atmospheric sounding information and running HYSPLIT trajectory and dispersion simulations. Additional endpoints for other READY products may be implemented in the future.

Usage and Eligibility

Due to limited computational resources, our public-facing API infrastructure prioritizes:

Internal NOAA usage
Short-term proofs of concept
External researchers who cannot run simulations independently

How to Request an API Key

To access the API, users must obtain an API key from the HYSPLIT team.

NOAA Users

NOAA users can request an API key directly by emailing arl.webmaster@noaa.gov.

Non-NOAA Users

Register with HYSPLIT if you have not already done so. For details, visit the HYSPLIT Registration Instructions page.
Contact the ARL webmaster at arl.webmaster@noaa.gov to request an API key application form.

Approval is subject to the discretion of the HYSPLIT development team. Once your use case has been reviewed, you will be notified of the decision.
