Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western Maine and New Hampshire
National Weather Service Gray ME
500 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
.DISCUSSION...
Deep mixing is expected today but winds aloft will be lighter
than earlier in the week. So, while RH values fall well into the
teens to 20s percent range, west to northwesterly winds will
generally max out into the 20-25 mph range. Do expect a seabreeze
to swap wind directions along the immediate coast and a bit into
the interior past noontime. In addition, this would lower
temperatures, aiding in some RH recovery. Warming trend goes into
the weekend, with dry weather continuing. Winds look to remain
15
to 20 mph during the afternoons. Next chance for scattered
showers
returns for Saturday night through Wednesday but no widespread
wetting rains are currently anticipated.

temperatures this morning with highs nearing 50 degrees. Winds
will become light and variable this evening through tonight as
mixing ends and a surface inversion develops. This will allow
temperatures to fall into the teens by Friday morning along with
strong humidity recovery. Friday will feature continued dry
conditions along with ample sun with afternoon relative humidity
values once again falling into the upper teens to lower 20s
percent range. Despite this deep mixing, northwesterly winds will
generally remain below 15 mph as winds aloft will be weaker.
