Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
408 AM MDT Sat Apr 20 2024

.Discussion...

Cool weather will prevail over the district today. Showers will
occur this morning and later this afternoon and evening. Winds
will be light.

For Sunday. it will dry out and it will be warmer, but winds will
remain light over the district.

for Monday, it will warm up considerably and winds will be on
the increase in advance of the next Pacific weather system.
Critical fire weather conditions will be possible across the
San Luis valley and the western half of the southeast Colorado
plains.

For Tuesday, it will be cool across the plains with showers over
most of the district. However, it still will be warm and breezy
over the San Luis Valley and near critical fire weather will
be possible.

For Wednesday, it will warm up again and breezy conditions will
continue. This will allow critical fire to occur over the
San Luis Valley and southern I-25 corridor region.

for Thursday, a more synoptically evident critical fire weather
day is likely across all of the district. Strong southwest surface
winds are likely along with low humidity values.

Smoke dispersion will be fair to good both this afternoon and
tomorrow afternoon across the district.

Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
428 AM MDT Sat Apr 20 2024

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Moisture sticks around today
with marginally breezy conditions in the high country and far east
plains in the afternoon. Smoke dispersal will be good or better
for the west slope. It will be poor mainly elsewhere.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday through Wednesday...Warmer
and drier conditions are expected by Sunday, though humidity
values will likely remain above 20 percent across the region.
Light upslope flow across the plains will lead to generally poor
dispersal for the lower elevations, with good to very good smoke
dispersal for the higher Foothills, South Park, and areas west of
the divide. The warming/drying trend is expected to continue
Monday with increasing winds and a frontal passage in the
afternoon. Good to excellent smoke dispersal is forecast, though
some areas may see elevated fire weather conditions if a drying
trend continues. Guidance shows a little instability and a few
showers or isolated storms possible Monday into Tuesday. Then dry
and warm weather can be expected Wednesday before a likely return
to stormier weather late next week.
