Vmixing Tutorial

Vmixing is run from the command-line or from scripts—rather than the Graphical User Interface—and so is used by more advanced users. It extracts data and calculates vertical mixing parameters from meteorological data.

Here is a "Tutorial" on the use of the vmixing program that describes its basic use. The tutorial was written with options available in HYSPLIT 5.2.0 released in January 2022, but it will also work with earlier versions with a minor change in output file names:
If you want to try to carry out any of the examples in the Tutorial yourself, you can download the appropriate zip file below, unzip it, and place this new "working" directory alongside the working directory in your existing HYSPLIT installation.
