How come I can no longer automate the way I get READY meteorological products and why do I now need to
enter a random password for every product I request?
Our website has been receiving an increasing number of automated requests
for the READY programs on our webserver. These requests were coming at a rate of
several requests per second by several users over extended periods of time, overwhelming our system,
and causing many response problems for our regular customers such as yourself. The decision was
to either remove the programs from the web, since they are only provided as a method to interpret
the HYSPLIT transport and dispersion model results, or make it so that only users could not
access the products using these automated methods. The latter was decided. So, it will make
it somewhat more difficult for you to get the products you need, but at least you can still access
the product by going through our step-by-step menus.
